Silverado good as the review?

I ordered mine last friday and still haven't got the message saying my order was processed, just the auto-confirmation. But some folks said it took them a week to process theirs, so I'll keep waiting. DAMN I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO ARRIVE!!!!!!!

Ya, that kinda turned me off too. But I did it anyway and found out that Paypal is really easy to do. Go for it!

Can you folks explain how to order this? I can't make sense of the translated web-site. What's the approximate cost with shipping?

I think you'll find it easier if you click on the big RED links that say US/Canada/etc. order page / info page
or UK / Ireland ....

Shouldn't be too hard to miss.

In response to your question: I fitted my Silverado to my Athlon 1.2Ghz/266FSB on Asus A7M266 motherboard using Arctic Silver II thermal compound, when running lightly loaded, e.g browsing web (and with one side of case removed,
as I'm not yet happy with case airflow ) my temp. using
Asus Probe V 2.12.06 is 39C

By the way I set my fans to run at 12v and haven't got round to trying the the lower voltage settings yet.

Wow, that would be a great temp even on MBM5! The Asus probe reports temps about 10C higher than they really are. get MBM5.

I got the Silverado last week. I intended to replace my Taisol CGK742092. I have a:

MSI K7 Master (MS-6341)
Thunderbird 1.13GHz (266) overclocked to 1330GHz (Multiplier only)
Asus V7100 Geforce2 MX
Addtronics 7896A Case, left side open
3 Panaflo 120mm L1A Fans, 1 Panaflo 92mm L1A Fan (2 intake, 2 exhaust).

The Taisol has consistantly preformed at:

39oC Idle, 43oC Load

The Silverado preformed (12 volt to the fans, Artic Silver II)

45oC Idle, 53oC Load

Needless to say, I was a little disappointed. I installed it twice and got the same results. I'm ~$80 poorer and am back with the Taisol.

Mabye I'm crazy,

can tell me where to buy?? url??? cos i havent enen seen it before any pics????

The only place to buy one. If you live in New Zealand, USA, England, or Australia, you need to click on the link that says English order page. In case you don't know, it will be shipping from NoiseControl in Germany.

Why, oh why did you replace your HSF if you wer running such great temps on your Taisol? I also go the Silverado to replace my Taisol CKG742092 because it ran idle temps at 54C, now my Silverado runs at 40C idle :)

You know, I have the same thought as you. However, my temp is about 10 degree higher than yours. I do think the Taisol and the silverado perform almost the same. I have tried to turn on only the taisol and only the silverado at the different time(means everything off in the computer), the noise coming from silverado is a little louder than the taisol, I have tried few times after I found that out. I keep on screaming at the computer and saying "NOOOOOOO" Because I simply can't believe the 25 bucks perform almost the same as the 80 bucks silverado. And believe me, the silverado running at full speed isn't quiet... me and my cousin have tried to take the silverado apart and put the artic silver 2 between the silver plate and also the 2 bar that hold the fan, it does perform 1 to 2 degree better. I don't know why my cpu are at 45 idel and 54 at full load with the case open. I have no idea why. Do you guys think it's because I pump the system bus from 100 to 133 and make it hotter? Because I have an T-Bird 1200(100) AXHA, I have tried to overclock it to 1333(10x133) and it's only 2 degree higher than before, I have no idea why. Hope someone can answer my questions.

I dont get it! How can the Silverado be worse than Taisol?
Did you meassure under same circumstances? of course 133 fsb gives higher temps, part of your CPU works at 33% higher performance!
I exchanged my golden orb with the Silverado. I first used 12V for the fans, and was a bit dissapointed by the noise. But then I switched to 6V, and got allmost the same cooling, and no noise. My Silverado performs well even on 5Volt from power supply, and it is still better than my Golden Orb.
I changed to 5volt because the resistors included with the Silverado got warm, and i dont want that extra heat in my case. Sadly the silverado gets noisy already at 7V, but my system is extremely quiet, my guess is that most of you wouldnt notice the noise at 7V.
Has anyone else tried using arctic silver between the silver plate and the alluminum grill? I am very interested to hear if it improves performance.

Something is wrong with that tweak, at least on my system.

On my KT7, CPU temperatures seem to drop below ambient temperatures then my system inevitably crashes. Note that it is impossible for CPU temperatures to be below ambient temperatures yet this is what is reported by both Motherboard Monitor and Via Hardware Monitor. And there is the crashing problem...

One thing that comes to mind is that the review of the Silverado (Lord Kryo Part II), tested the Silverado's noise level at Whisper mode, which is the 6V mode according to Noise Control's German website. I suspect the cooling part of the test was measured in Turbo mode (12V). I wish I had some sound pressure level test data for the 12V mode. If the Silverado is relatively noisy at 12V, that takes away a lot of the motivation to open my wallet for one. ("Say it ain't so!")

Any experience using that tweak on a ocd A7V133? I get instant lock up and windows boot failures if I do them...

Here is a German site that tested the Silverado against many other common HSF's including the Taisol 742 and includes both comparative temperatures and sound volumes.
FWIW, their results would indicate that the Silverado should cool better and more quietly than a Taisol 742. It can be translated to English directly from Google:
