upgraded to windows 7 and cant find pci controller

If you mean W7 cannot find a driver for a simple PCI device, it's probably only a MODEM you no longer need to connect to the Internet.

If you do need it to send faxes or to use your computer as a telephone answering service, try the driver the manufacturer publishes for XP - it might work.

In the device's Properties, click the Details tab and note the four characters which follow VEN and the four after DEV under the DeviceID heading. Enter the DEV code in the appropriate box at http://www.pcidatabase.com and tie it up with the VEN for Vendor code to find the manufacturer, go to their site and download the driver.
