How can I go directly to the workgroup list instead of
going"MY network places...entire network...workgroup"

also how/can I get rid of those other things listed
under "entire network" (Microsoft Terminal services & Web
Client Network"---we have neither of these

Why don't you create a shortcut to the workgroup -

Open "My Network Places"
Browse until you see your workgroup in the right pane.
Make this window a bit smaller so you can drag to the desktop. Now,
drag the Workgroup to your desktop, and viola! you have a shortcut.
