Hello, I have been having some performance problems with the sims 3.
I have reached out to EA support and they have tried everything they have in the books to fix this problem. Its to the point where Its freezing every two minuets or less.

I am unsure when the problem started but I do know that it has been getting worse over time,
I am more sure it has to do with my computer then the game its self but everything seems to be fine and it seems to only effect the sims 3 for some reason.

I have a custom computer its been with me for a number of years but its vary well maintained.
Statistics are below:

ASUS Mainboard 970A-G45,
Nividea Geforce GTX 750 Ti,
Window 7, 64bit,
2GB RAM, 1TB HDD

I have been seeing some changes in the fans as they are speeding up and making more noise,
I had to disable one because it had problems, the the case has lots of vents and I have checked inside to see if its hot and its not to bad, the problem started in the spring with the one fan, and Its now summer but we have an AC and a small apartment sweet so its should be fine,

I have no experience with BIOS I have been in my BIOS to look at settings,
I have lowered the settings in sims details and even sound quality I know that sound can have a big part with lag and fps problems at times, and even on medium quality I have seen no diferance in the lag.

When I noticed it at first It was only restricted to Build mode when rotating the game would get a bit of lag, buy mode was still fine though.

Then I got Island Paradise and It seemed to get twenty times worce expeshaly in the map that came with Island paradise I always have figured that it was all the trees and props on the map that was the cause.

At this point I got help from ea and went back a number of times.

And now then in the spring the fans where acting weird and
Now its worse, the game freezes no mater what map I am in and its more often then just build and buy mode its while playing the game,

I don't know what else to do or where to look, It may have something to do with BIOS or maybe a comparability problem

The only last factor I can think of is the number of expansion packs I have.
I have 10 installed rate now, I so I may need more ram but If I do then I want to make sure that all the other possible problems are fixed first before I get my computer upgraded.

Solution
Your welcome The game uses 4gb of computer ram . It also uses virtual memory . If you change out the ram in your computer do two sticks of 4gb ram like gskill, corsiar , kingston brands

Your fine on 1tb hard drive, I play the game on a 250 gb SSD. My 770m laptop card is about equal to a 750 ti desktop card . I have every ep installed accept pets. Pets is the most demanding ep so if your playing all eps on a 750 ti you may have to lower your settings

Some game tips for helping lag

in your Nvidia control panel , program settings under 3d settings click add then browse. Then you will be clicking on a bunch of files to get to the TS3W file which runs the game. computer C, to program files X 86 file, to origin games file, to the sims 3...
I know his is about 2 months old but have you fixed your problem? You need more ram. 8gb would be good. The sims 3 also has no fps limiter so you need to add your TS3w game file to nvidia control panel and use vsync to lock your fps.

Thank you for getting back to me, do you know if Windows virtual memory work I have 1TB HDD and I just found out that windows can use HDD to run a Minecraft server with it.

to do so,
( Start ) > right click ( Computer ) > ( Properties ) > ( Advanced System Settings ) > ( Advanced ) tab > under performance click ( Settings ) > under ( Advanced ) tab > under virtual memory click ( Change ) > uncheck (Automatically manage paging file size for all drives) > check ( Custom Size ) > then under ( Initial size (MB): ) = min value "I think not sure" and under ( Maximum size (MB): ) would be the highest amount of memory to use.

I know that it works with running a Minecraft server, you can allow it by using the ( -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M ) with the virtual memory, however I don't know if you can just allow it for general desktop use without telling how much to use, I would amuse so.

I will have to try that as I only have 2GB on this computer 6GB on my server I will see what I can form.
I if it works at all I will post back here to break the good news :)

In the bin file you will find the TS3W file. Add that to control panel and put vsync on adaptive. This game must have vsync on or it will run your fps way to high. Also remind yourself every time you have an nvidia card update make sure it does not reset your vsync before playing. Nvidia card updates will also reset your game launcher settings every time.

make sure lot details is on low. This will keep stutter down. Its the game not your video card with the stutter issue. Also turn off memories or it will load down your game. Also turn off the store from loading in CAS and turn off loading screens

also if your on windows 10 read this http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2015/10/windows-10-and-securom.html

Make sure your video card is updated for windows 10 http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Also make sure all your drivers are up dated for windows 10

I will try that, I just reinstalled windows so it would be the best time to try new tactics as its easier to track the performance.

I will let you know how it goes, thank you for your reply.

on a side note I did max out my ram its now 8GB I have support for DDR2s so I cant go any higher sadly.

thanks again.
