I have to replace a pop bumper coil on the sinbad i just started...
(A-1496). the existing coil is burned and when the coil was in the
circuit a fuse blew if the bumper was triggered. I suspect that the
coil failure was caused by a switch failure at some point (since the
mpu does not control this coil) or just years and years of use...

anybody know what size sleeve i need?
Anybody have any pop-bumper rebuild tips for me?

Thanks!

If you are buying a new coil, it should come with the sleeve (most
suppliers provide one). If not, it's 03-7066 (wms part #)

oh also, if you want, you can retrofit from system80 gottlieb's a "pop
bumper driver board" which will do a couple things for you - make the
pop bumper more responsive, and prevent it from locking on. (It's a
"on shot" trigger type board). I install them on all my system1's (all
2 of them) and they work great.

Pinball Lizard sells a new board that will do this. Not sure if he has
directions on how to set it up, I knew already but he does mention on
his website that it can be done. Basically you need +5vdc under the PF
which I pulled from the PS board, you reroute the switch wires to the
Pop driver board, and the power from the coil. Now the switch tells
the board to fire the bumper - giving a consistent strength and length
of pop (vs. the direct switch having variable).
