I think the screen is broken, see if you can find a old monitor with vga port. Test with your damaged laptop and use the external monitor as your main display. and see if that’s the issue or there is some internal damage as well. If it’s just the screen, you can buy a used monitor with vga fairly cheaply.

The screen may be broken. Unfortunately, this will be considered CID (customer induced damage) so it will not be covered by warranty.
