Single ranked and dual ranked together?

Hey there, I'm looking at upgrading from 8gb to 16gb of ram. Now the current stick of ram i've got in my computer is dual ranked, and the one i'm going to get is single ranked.Now i was wondering if there would be any issues using them together?

technically speaking, I would ask first what is your motherboard make and model, as not all motherboards are created equal and without checking first I cannot answer if the single band can ever work on your system at all,

the motherboard runs in dual band memory mode, and if it sees 2 sticks of ram it will try to go into that mode.
I believe putting a single band ram stick as a pair with another dual band ram stick is a recipe for disaster.

best way to make sure of no issues it to look under SPECCY what the model of your ram is, and get an identical one.
