Single time Boot failure

So for a better description of whats happening and what im running is.

CPU:Intel core i7 4790k @ 4.4Ghz(only multiplier modified)
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken x41
Thermal paste: IC Diamond 24C (rice grain method)
RAM: G.Skill Ares 1600Mhz CL10 4x 8GB(32GB)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X-SOC
PSU: Be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 10 750W
GPU: Gainward Phantom GTX 970 4GB @ 1202Mhz GPU clock speed.
Storage: 2x Samsung 840 EVO(1 has RAPID mode enabled, other has OS) SSD, 1x ioDrive 2 duo 1.2TB PCI-e SSD, 1x OCZ Revodrive 350 960GB.


now the everything apart form the CPU and motherboard ran at the exact same settings with an AMD FX 8350 @ 4.7Ghz on a M5A99FX pro 2.0 motherboard and not a single issue.


In december i switched to intel and immediately started to get an issue after start up whether i stick things at stock speeds or even underclock them a little Ive even taken the PC apart completely and putting it back together double checking every single thing.

So whats happening is, i finish work start up my PC when i get home. after exactly 5 minutes and 8 seconds (yes i timed it over the last week) the PC shuts off (does not shut down) and gives me the boot failure screen dispite it takes about 6 seconds to get to my desktop screen and i could already be playing LoL, WoW or watching youtube by the time this happens.

Any1 have any idea whats going on?

did you wipe and reinstall windows. if not there are wrong drivers loading and can cuase issues with windows. if you did a clean wipe and install. check that your mb has the newest bios file. if it not a bios issue it could be power spike or lower power on the cable having the boot disk. ssd if your rig doe not have clean power can error out on boot.

Did you do a clean install of windows when you switched from AMD to Intel?

If you did not then there is your problem.

Nothing will fix this problem outside of a fresh install, not updating drives, not doing a system restore, not even doing a repair installation where it replaces system files.

When i swapped from AMD to Intel i completely got rid of the HDD that the OS and everything but games were installed on plus every storage device was reformatted.

something i forgot to add. after that boot failure, simply going into bios then save and exit without changing anything seems to temporarily fix the issue until the next day. so this is a once a day occurrence.

If that does not work then I would start unplugging everything that is not vital to see if that helps.
If not I would be thinking defect in power supply or motherboard. They are both good quality but it can always be the 1 that has a defect.

If it was a power supply issue wouldnt it of affected the AMD build previously? so by process of elimination its the Motherboard?

Power consumption difference, capacitors and safeguards in the new board, there are factors.

Motherboard is more likely, but power supply is still a possibility. Then there is always just some coincidence or weirdness when changing parts.

theres less power consumption in this build, so most likely a faulty motherboard?
