I am planning to upgrade my current PC. i already have a case, cpu cooler, and storage. i need some feedback. i plan to use it for gaming and light video editing.

Your system is great for what you want to do, although it would be better to go with the 73 6700k 8 threads @ 4ghz.
The mobo is great but make sure that it can overclock as I don't know if it can. Finally, consider starting with 16 gb of ram even though you don't need it on video games. You should notice a significant improve in video edting(BTW don't you even think not going with an ssd as your boot drive)

Virtually any Z170 motherboard will do.
Assuming you have no plans for sli, I might look for a less expensive M-ATX sized motherboard.

If you have not yet done so, plan on a SSD for windows.

I have a Fractal R4, a Samsung EVO 840 500gb and a seagate barracuda 1TB. For cooler I have a Noctua (Don't remember the model name.)
