So the new Skylake CPUs came out today and it has put me in a bit of a dilemma. I'm building a new rig soon so I'm trying to decide between them. I could either go with the fx 8350 or 9590, the new gigabyte UD3 R5 and a GTX 970 or R9 390, or I could go with the 6600k and get an sli mobo and some dual channel ddr4 memory but I will have to skimp on the graphics card and get a cheaper 770 or 680. The Skylake approach will set me back about 850$ with 16gb ram (without graphics card) while the AMD approach will set me back $1000 with the 970 and 8gb ram. I have a 60hertz monitor and I will be doing a fair amount of screen recording and "medium" amount of rendering.

Devil's Canyon with GTX970, best choice i ever did in my life. (built it ~2 months ago)

Going for the Skylake is gonna cost you higher in total, because of the memory and motherboard types, which are more expensive.
