I updated my PC to anniversary and I was looking forward to the new Skype app. I can message people in the preview just fine, and if someone is calling and messaging me, I hear the notification sounds, but if I try to call someone, it fails instantly or once my friend hits accept. And if I accept a call, it fails. Anyway to fix this?

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling either the new Skype app or the whole Windows 10 anniversary update.

If you uninstall the Skype preview app, you will be able to get it back via the Windows Store. To uninstall it, find it in the start menu, right click it and then choose uninstall. Then open up the Windows Store, search for Skype and see if it works.

If that method does not work, try re-installing the update. Press the Windows key, type update and then select the first option that appears, it should take you to the settings app. Then press on update history and then uninstall updates. When you get back to the older version of Windows 10, just check for the update again (it should come through immediately) and then install it for a second time and see if that works.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, I re installed Skype a few days a go and it didn't work so I will try your method of re installing the anniversary update. I'll get back to you by tomorrow if it works.

Did what you suggested, re installed the anniversary update. Did not fix it unfortunately.

Oh, sorry about that. Just to cover all bases, check your Skype settings to ensure there is nothing there which would be causing these issues. If not try Microsoft support: https://support.skype.com/en/skype/uwp/ It may be worth requesting support there and seeing if they have a fix for it, as it is a new update I had a look online but couldn't find anything like your problems.

Have you got Skype for desktop? Try downloading it here: https://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/
Try using that and see if the issues persist.

I've been using the desktop app for years and never had any issues, still don't have any. But one time, the desktop app bugged out because of my nvidia drivers, I will update mine and see if it solves the issue as the driver is almost two months old. Probably a long shot though.
