SLI 1080 best display option?

Hey guys I've been out of the game when it comes to the new technology, I'm building a gaming rig mostly for FPS and one or another type of game, but mostly FPS.
I want to know which type of monitor would be the best choice for me ? 144hz? 2k?4k? G-sync or non G-sync? I don't want anything over 27" if possible

My budget is not limited but I can consider not going for the very best. I mainly want to know which options should I be choosing and why?.

MOBO would be Z170x Gigabyte G1 Gaming
My GPU would be a Gtx 1080 SLI or maybe the new Titan X pascal.
My CPU would be a i7 6700k
DDR4 32 gb (2x16) 3200MHz

If you want two 1080s, anything less than 4k would be wasting money.

Just wanted to build the best possible and that lasted long enough. But I just saw the Titan X and that could be an option and get out of the trouble of the non sli games. Which should be your choice if you had the chance of building your dream rig w/o including the 1500$ CPU. For gaming of course.

Get one 1080 now and swap it for next year's new hotness. I would not ever bother with SLI. Seriously. That's the best way. Any Skylake i5 or i7 would last years, but even the best video card right now will be heavily overshadowed by other video cards by this time next year.

Not even considering the new Titan X, I could hold my purchase for a bit for the reviews? If thats so, which display should I get ? For FPS games manly.

If you mainly play fps you want a 144Hz monitor. I would go for a 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor, I am not aware of any 4k monitor that runs over 60Hz. A single 1080 would work well with such a monitor but sli 1080's would be awesome if not a little overkill.

What about IPS ? How about this one ? Its a 165Hz, IPS , g-sync
http:// its the asus pg279 or should I go for the 278 the TN one for the input lag.

Using Sli or just one 1080 as turbo suggested ?

No need for SLI. Get one 1080 or Titan, or wait a minute and see if there will be a 1080 ti. I agree about a 144hz 1440p monitor. 21:9 ratio if possible. Ok after checking, that doesn't exist, but this would be close
