SLI important question

I need to know if I can use the same GPU (GTX 970) and have 2 different brands of them in my computer and they'll work? Like can I have a EVGA card and an MSI one and will they work together?

As long as there the same series they will work in sli.
Speed timings are set automatically by the slowest card.
