I have 1 monitor. 60hz 1080p. Looking to maybe get a second. But not 100% yet.

I have a asus strix 970.

I want to be able to play games like arma 3 gta v like almost full or full with solid 60fps. So grass towns etc wont lag.

Do i SLI my card or buy something else? If so what else. Only one monitor for foreseeable future.

Cpu 4690k
16gb ram

At this point then, I think it comes down to what the difference is. The 980ti has more VRAM so if you're looking towards the future, you're probably better getting a single 980ti vs SLI the 970s.

Again though, if your 970 is struggling, I would say there's some issue somewhere and if you can't figure out what it is, I would stay away from getting a second card as it might not help you any. Double check the drivers, heat, dust, all the usual suspects. If you're still having some issues, I would save up for the 980ti and call it good.

I have dual monitors with my EVGA 970 FTW and get perfect frames in Diablo3, GTA V, H1Z1, BF4. You shouldn't need to go buy a new card or a second card to support more monitors. Are you having issue with your current one or something?

are you having trouble reaching max settings in those games with a single 970? i didnt try either with my single 970 so im unsure, but you should be close at least.
as for my personal experience, i added a second 970 for sli. this is also on a 1080 60hz monitor. i chose this because of it being lets say another 350 bucks. to match the two 970s in a single gpu, you'd want to go to a 980ti. so its up to you if thats within your budget. the good side is it will have you much more prepared for something much more intensive like 4k gaming.

Nothing wrong with monitor i was just saying as future referance if i get a second would one card be better than another etc.

Im near full on games. Maybe like 45/50 frames on average in gta v as an example. Until grass etc then take a massive hit. Arma 3 on full is 60 fps until the towns. Then its laggy as hell.

2 cards in a system look really smart too. But then your talking like £550 on gpus should i sell and buy 980ti instead.. I hate options.

At this point, if you're thinking about upgrading, it pretty much would be a 980ti to justify the cost (in my opinion). If you're having issues with the 970 though, I'd be hesitant about buying another in the event that your current one is under performing.

I think that the 970 just needs 2 to keep up atm. A bonus though i didnt pay for it. So a gpu hasnt actually cost me anything. I could spend upto £250 and have sli.. So 2 cards cost me personally £250
