SLI or single?

ok, i now have the 7800GTX, next week i will be stepping up to the 7900GTX. i can sell it on the ebay for allmost 600, and that would buy 2 7900GT's.

my use is,

1600X1200, 85HRz
BF2 mostly.

my current setup is below, and i have the 32X board, so SLI is just a plug away.

what would give me more FPS?
what will look beter, i love eye candy.
 
You can sell a 7800 GTX on Ebay for $600? There are some dumb people out there then, since a 7900 GT is as good or better. (Or did you mean selling the 7900 GTX?)

As for SLI, look at the benchmarks, personaly I don't think $600 is worth it for any card, but I'd rather have 1 card than 2. Less heat, less power drain, less noise, and still great performance out of the GTX. Besides, the 7900 GTX is a great overclocker (though so is the 7900 GT).

Honestly, you might be happier with getting a 7900 GT and a new Hard drive, or monitor, or even just pocketing it and saving it for later or something else (Games aren't cheep either)

7900GTX sells for 600 on ebay, i have a step-up from EVGA for the upgrade.
 
So one you get your 7900GTX from the step-up program, you can use it and add another 7900GTX if you have the money, but dual 7900GTs are better than a single 7900GTX.

unfortionally i dont have another $500 to drop. how mutch faster will the 7900GT's be then the 7900gtx single?

any benches like that?

Check out benchmarks at www.firingsquad.com look for the review of the 7900gt/gtx from a few weeks ago...

the SLI gt combo for approx $600 total is about 40-50% faster than a single gtx usually...

(As to your 7800GTX card(s)...are they gtx512 variants? As I can't imagine anyone would fork out $600 for a 7800GTX(256) card that is outperformed by an off the shelf 7900GT costing $299...!)

Details of this implementation are rather sketch at best, but I'd guess they will require at least an SLI mainboard, and perhaps an x 8 slot...

As Nvidia/ATI are also working on physics implementation/optimizing software/drivers for their SLi/Crossfire drivers, it will be an interesting battle for supremacy as it develps!

Can't wait to see some benchmark battles!
 
People will pay crazy prices for stuff on eBay. You could overclock the 7800GTX and say that it's a one of a kind, and that it performs better than any one that you can buy.

this is also coming from someone who has a $90 vid card, lol.

I have a $90 video card. Or maybe it's $85. The nice thing is that if I fry it overclocking too high, I'm not out $300. It'll give me a reason to buy a $300 video card :).

Can I have your 7800GTX when you get the 7900? Please.
