Hey thanks in advance for reading and trying to help.

Simply put, I have a Rampage iv extreme with a gtx 780 in slot 4 (the 3rd red slot). I want to add another one but can't put it in the first slot because the cooler is too big :-/. Can I put the 2nd gtx 780 in a different slot like the 6th one (4th red slot)?

Here is a link to an image and reference to the board: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img152/1433/mutligraphics.jpg

Thank you!

i beieve you can put one in 16x and one in an 8x slot but both cards will use 8x.

If you use GPU-Z this will sow you what bus speed is being used.

I am having trouble finding something on the internet that supports this. I really want to believe it, but can you please show me something that supports your answer? The chart in the manual specifically says slot 1 and 4, and I can't even find a picture on google images with a different configuration.

Thanks guys for the responses!

Oops haven't updated my info in a while. That broke a while back and now I have a cooler master V8. It's a tractor haha

That's one massive mother of an air cooler.

Since you can test a single card in each of those PCI-E x16 slots, whether 8-lanes or 16-lanes, to determine if a single specific slot is working there's nothing to stop you from testing two cards in different slot combinations as long as you have a 2-way SLI bridge connector that is long enough to join the two cards.

If that were my system I would be testing out different slot combinations to determine if SLI mode is still functional.

Uh....

I think 2 card SLI will only run at 8x unless you use the specific 16x/16x enabled slots (Slot 1 and 4)

I honestly don't think all 4 red slots are 16x as this guy is claiming - I could be wrong, there's only one way to test it and that's by physically inserting the card and use gpu-z.

If any red slot can be used to gain 16x it would surely say in the m/b manual & screenshot you provided.
