SLI Teeth exposed to open air, will this be a problem when I do get a second graphics card?

So I recently put together a new PC build, and in my excitement to put all the pieces in, I took off the SLI teeth cover on my video card. Rookie mistake.

Eventually I would like to run SLI on this build when I have enough cash to afford the second GPU , however my current card has had its SLI teeth exposed to open air for a few weeks now. I know dust can be an issue with these kind of things, so have I prevented myself from running SLI with this current card, or would I be able to safely clean off this portion of my card when I do get a second one?

Okay, thanks. Just wanted to cover my bases, I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to PC building.

Just out of curiosity, how long would it take for any damage? Its likely going to be a couple months more before I can afford the new card.
