SLI with r9 280x and 290?

Is it possible to have sli with amd windforce r9 280x and gigabyte windforce r9 290?

Nope, they use different GPUs (Tahiti and Hawaii).

A 280X can work with a 280, 7970, 7950, or 7870 XT.

A 290 can work with a 290X, 390, or 390X.

AMD actually calls it crossfire, and its a bit different than SLI but thats irrelevant here.

They are different chipsets they will not crossfire.

You also want to make sure you motherboard support cross fire
