I wanted to ask that is sli really worth it. How much performance it will improve and games which do not support sli do they utilise one gpu to its full potential? Also how do i provide cooling to them if i aint doing custom looping?

Solution
What he means by its doesn't scale well, is that you can't expect 2x the power just because you have 2 more cards.
As for the support, if you use a powerful enough card like a 1080ti, even just 10% more power can launch you over the stable 60fps point. Therefore you are almost guaranteed stable FPS.
They tend to not be. They don't scale well and the support for multi-GPU solutions is very inconsistent. A single stronger card is usually the way to go, unless you need a solution so powerful that one card simply can't do it alone (like if you have incredibly high resolution needs and need two 1080 tis).

SLI becomes useful depending on your resolution. If it weren't for SLI, I wouldn't be able to play smoothly at 4k. But if your playing at lets say 1080p then it doesn't really matter that much. Most graphics cards already have a decent standard heatsink so cooling wont be that much of an issue, but if you are really concerned the best you can really do is get more case fans.

well i will be using 4k but the problem is i will be playing games which probably not be supported by sli so how well will they work?
