Slow and sluggish performance Win 10

Hello,
I need help. Basically I got a PC this Christmas and I have been facing poor performance and stuttering that I think just shouldn't be happening. I have searched through every forum I can find and every supposed fix video for it.

So far I've:
uninstalled bloatware
updated drivers
done a clean install of the graphics driver
messed about in the registry
Defragmented my hard drive
Tried to check if the issue is game side but I don't think it is at all
Yet none of these have seemed to help at all so now I'm out of options but to ask for help.

By stuttering I mean that I get a good, solid 60 fps for a bit then out of nowhere frame rate just drops to about 2 and go's back up in 2 to 3 seconds. Also sometimes the frame rate just dies and makes the game unplayable for 5 to 20 seconds then go's back to normal. Also whenever I alt tab out of pretty much any game it takes ages for it to load up and even for it to just realise that I did it in the first place.

Furthermore this can also be seen on the desktop. Things are slow to load and when they do they quickly become unresponsive and on a few occasions just crash out of nowhere. Google Chrome is the biggest offender of this as sometimes I'll be doing nothing and it will just crash and stop working.

This happens on every game ,old and new, and is driving me mad. Maybe I'm asking for too much and this is how it's meant to be but I really can't see that as the cause.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask anything I left out and I'll do my best to answer.

I should also mention that my PC is custom built by myself and I wouldn't say I'm wholly experienced with this after coming from console. Perhaps there is something so easy to do to fix it that I've simply missed.

Thank you,
Euan Jones.

Yeah my gpu should be fine and even on low settings it still happens.

First thing I would do is run Malwarebytes. Check for malware.
Then maybe some virusscanner, Avast or similar.
Did you install chipset drivers, SATA drivers, USB drivers etc? Double-check.
Did you install RAM in the right slots?
Is CPU seated correctly and Heatsink seated evenly and also CPU not overheating?
Check cables to Harddrives etc. Anything that connects to motherboard. Remove and re-insert.

I've run malware bytes before and again just now and there were no issues.
Can you recommend any software to check the drivers for me and if not how would I do that?

Okay I'll try doing them manually.

Which should I be looking to update?

Maybe check and see if your in AHCI mode for your Hard Drive. Also check the speed of your Hard Drive. Go into Device Manager IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Should say "Standard SATA AHCI Controller" not "IDE" you can check this in UEFI/BIOS as well

Next try running WD Drive utilities it should tell you the speed.

HDTune is what I use to bench Hard Drive. Works fine on Windows 10

You got a nice computer so it shouldn't be slow. I'm thinking Hard Drive

Okay,
in the device manager it said under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers: Intel(R) 100 Series/c230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
Not sure if that's correct.
Then WD drive utilities just says "Attach a supported WD drive" so I'm not sure what that means.
And as for HDTune it said:
Minimum: 3.8 MB/s
Maximum: 174.3 MB/s
Average: 110.9 MB/s
Access Time: 18.9 ms
Burst Rate: 191.4 MB/s
CPU Usage: 15.3%
I'm not sure if anything is out of the ordinary there.

from time to timw it would be windows updates which are never over in windows 10 and if you have mechanical driver hdd this gonna hurt a lot it could take hours to make your pc work on full again

Some of those seem to be down to me just force closing things and not properly shutting it down. Though there is some hardware errors coming up.

What do you mean?

All of the hardware errors are down to LiveKernelEvent.

Right, my gpu is a MSI gtx 1060 3gb
On GeForce experience the version is: 382.05
On games for example Dark Souls 3 I can run the game at max preset or at low preset and it doesn't it still stutters on both.
My resolution is 1280 x1024 (I ran out of money for the peripherals)

I've tried to lower my setting but that doesn't help.

What is the igpu?

Oh sorry, I haven't used the Igpu but what would that do?
