My Internet Speed ist quite high by the standards of my country (75 down 40 up) but my internet connection is slow af. (The ping does never succeeds 30) What can I do? I have already switched my dns to the one of google one but it barely helps. Do you have any idea where the problem might be? Thanks a lot in advance:)
(This only happens when I am using WiFi, my cellular connection handles browsing much faster)

I am unsure what you have tested. If you are using something like a cell phone and comparing wifi to mobile broadband that makes things complex to troubleshoot. You need to somehow find out if it really is the wifi or maybe your router or your internet. Best option is to use a ethernet connection to the router which if it works would prove it is the wifi.

In some ways you want the problem not to be wifi. There is almost nothing you can do. You can do stuff like change channels on the router or maybe use the 2.4g band or the 5g band to see if they are different. On the end device there are almost no settings at all. Most things if you change them from default values just make the connection worse. Maybe turn off power saving options if they exist.

Your only other fix for wifi tends to be to see if there are newer drivers and hope it was a bug. This likely is not a option if you are using a cellphone.

^This helps zero, obviously, your cellular connection doesn't go out your broadband.

What one always must ask is, are other machines acting the same, are other people in the house complaining same problem, because you are sharing broadband with others, most likely.

After that, highly standard to have multiple browsers on PCs, if u don't, maybe this is a good time to have them around, then u can discount whether it's a browser (App) issue.

There could be sevral problems

If you have lots of tabs open you may be overloading your cpu/memory. Check your task manager for load.

If you use an antivirus it may be slowing you down. When you go to a website the url is sometimes forwarded to rhe antivirus company to see if its safe for you to go there.

The website in question may be traffic limited.

The bandwidth in your neighborhood may be oversold.

You are using a browser plugin like ad blockers and tye website relentlessly hits you trying to get ads to work.

Try fast.com which uses webapis to send and receive data (get post). Gets and post are the vast majority of traffic websites use

Log into ypur rouyer and check statistics to make sure some rogue divice isnt stealing your bandwidth

First of all thank you all for the fast responses. I am currently not hat home so I can’t test out new things. I do not think it that the Wifi is problematic because the same issue is appearing when I am connected to my repeater which is connected over Ethernet. But for some reasons the response time over Ethernet is waaay faster. (As far as I know that is typical but I don’t want a 10-15 second response time when I go to Instagram or YouTube instead of the normal .5 (what I forgot to mention was that normal websites over a regular browser work fine (not great but fine))

And Download speeds are pending between 60-70 mbps which means according to my very little knowledge that there isn’t any major problem with the connection itself. But the networking stuff is too complicated for me so I might be wrong.

I just got an idea:
My WiFi repeater uses the same Ssid as my router...may this be the reason?

Its your repeater. They cut througput in half. Pings are horrid.

I would recommend a better wifi card on your computer or a wireless bridge mode with a quality bridge.

If you have a 3x3 netgear router i can recommend the ex7000. The ethernet ports on the back will avoid the issues of rebroadcasting that range extenders often face when using a wifi only approach.

I don’t really know what you mean bc the speeds are exactly the same next to the repeater as when I am standing next to the router. Devolo says they are using the 2,4 and 5 ghz Lane idk if that’s what it makes it twice as fast as the one I had before but it has the exact same speed as the normal router

You ever play telephone (the game). It takes forever for the message to reach the end. Its because its repeated over and over again.

That said if your ssid is the same how do you know which device you are connected to? The router or the repeater?

Also see my comment in previous post about dangers of using same ssid.

I am so sorry i just read everything again and i can’t find anything regarding the same (maybe bc english isn’t my mother tongue)

I can see it in speeds bc they are way faster and stable. And i can also see it in my routers setting.

I can fully understand what you mean when you say that the ping WILL be reduced but I a am certain that it won’t make the 10 second difference.

Anyway thanks a lot I think I am going to experiment by myself. Because I don’t want to annoy you with my bad networking knowledge and my bad english
