Question Slow download speeds (Steam, Epic Games, Ubisoft, etc...)

Hi!
I've been experiencing "slow" download speeds. It's somehow locked down to 12MB/s (Around 95-100Mbps). When I do a speedtest on speedtest.net, it's 500 Mbps.

By the way.. The download speeds should be 500Mbps and upload speeds maximum 70Mbps (This is what we're paying for). Now it's somehow above that. Sometimes the download speeds go up to 1000Mbps, I do not know why. I tried using a torrent, to test if every app has a problem, but there, it was maximum 500Mbps with around 250-500 seeders. It didn't go above that.
Since this "more download/upload speeds" happened, the download speeds in these bigger game apps are relatively slow.
Also, I've tried a completely new ethernet cable and it's the same.
I've tried using WIFI on my pc, but this problem still happens. On phone, it's working how it should be.

EDIT: I've tested it on phone and it's still doing the "You have more download/upload speeds now, hahahahaaaa". I don't have any testing methods on mobile, so yeah.

The "11.5MB/s" from Steam is almost exactly what your Task Manager process of 97.2Mbs shows.

MegaBytes vs Megabits.
8:1 ratio.

Additionally, the online services can't serve the full capacity of the pipe for everyone on the planet.

Okay, but that's not the problem. Everything should be downloading faster, but "everything" is locked to 11-12MB/s.

This is very strange so you need to do some careful checking. Normally when you see numbers like 97mbps or other numbers in the low 90mbps it is a bad ethernet cable.

What this does not explain is why speedtest would show 500mbps. What is also somewhat strange is steam show 113mbps when you local machine show 97. If a port were actually dropping to 100mbps you never get even 101mbps...normally you can't even get 100mbps because of overhead in the packets.

Although in this case I don't think it is check the ethernet status screen while steam is downloading and see if maybe the port randomly drops to 100mbps. If you see 1000/1000 then it is likley not the port or cable

Do you know if you have any so called "gaming" network accelerator software installed. A very common name is cfosspeed. These type of apps are sometimes installed with the bloatware that comes with video cards or motherboard. Asus is a large offender. I woud unistall any software that claims to favor one kind of traffic over another.

Still the 100mbps limit is very strange.

Your phone should run the same speedtest site as your pc if you use a web browser. They have some speedtest app they keep nagging to install when you run the web version but I have never had a issue with the web version. I guess the app actually runs somewhat better but I have never used it.

It is 1000/1000. I don't know either what's happening. On speedtest.net (web and app, I get more Down- /Upload speed than I supposed to.

Also, I do not have any software that's supposed to make something "better". I recently reinstalled windows and didn't really mess with any settings.

Make and model modem? Make and model router (or modem/router if combined)?

The router's logs if available and enabled may provide some clue.

Who has full admin rights to the router?
