[SOLVED] Slow downloads on new SSD

I just installed a new 1 TB SSD for games since my primary 500 GB SSD (one with windows installed) was getting full. I tried downloading a game on the new SSD, and noticed that my download speed would start dropping, and then freeze at a certain point. Not only that, but it seemed that when the download speed would drop and freeze, it would make my PC lag (extremely noticeable cursor lag). I tried downloading the same game on my 500 GB ssd, and it was perfectly fine, no lag whatsoever. Speed tests show over 100 MB/s, so i figure it must be a problem with my SSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TLDR: New 1 TB SSD downloads games slowly. When the downloads slow down, it slows down my PC as well.

Which SSD did you buy?

Crucial P1 M.2, had good reviews and a good price. Even if it isn't the best, i wouldn't think it would have a problem doing something like this..

How hot does it get during writes? You may need to buy a cheap heat sink for it.

Ok. When im downloading a game, my SSD is at 100% usage, hence the performance problems. How would i fix this?

Speed tests show over 100 MB/s, so i figure it must be a problem with my SSD.

What kind of Internet plan is this? Is that megabytes or megabits per second? If it is in fact megabytes per second (like if you have gigabit fiber Internet) then that could possibly be exceeding the SLC cache of the drive after an extended write session, particularly if the drive is mostly full, after which it would need to write directly to the much slower QLC memory, which only operates at around 100MB/s. Normally this should be unlikely to occur under typical usage conditions, but if you copied a lot of data to the drive right beforehand, it might need some time to recover and clear the cache before returning to normal performance.

The P1 is QLC-based so is quite slow outside of SLC. It shouldn't get outside of SLC even at 100 MB/s though, for the most part. Maybe something else is interfering with it like AV. Keep in mind the "old" SSD is likely way faster outside SLC so you might not notice it there.
