Anyone experiencing this?

Every so often, when i download a game on steam my download speed is down like 80% of my normal speeds, all i need to do is reinstall my LAN driver and everything is back to normal...

MOBO is an ASUS TUF X570, Ryzen 5800x and so on...

Any idea whats up with that? The second i reinstall the driver my speed is back to normal, i dont even need to reboot.

How is the download speed being determined?

Check download speed before downloading a game. Also look in Task Manager for what all is running in the background.

Then download the game as usual but once completed check Task Manager. Determine if something else/new/unidentified is running in the background.

You can use Resource Monitor and Process Explorer in much the same manner.

Process Explorer (Microsoft, free):

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

Likewise check Task Scheduler. There may be some trigger in place that launches something after a steam download.

Objective being to determine what may be grabbing bandwidth and slowing things down....
