[SOLVED] slow read/write speed of Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB (SSDPEKNW010T8X1)

My setup:

• AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz (3.9 GHz Max Boost) Processor
• Zotac RTX 2060 Super 8GB GDDR6 Graphics
• 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 3000 MHz Memory
• 500GB Seagate BarraCuda Solid State Drive
• Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB (SSDPEKNW010T8X1)
• Thermaltake H200 TG RGB Case
• Wraith Stealth Cooler
• Thermaltake 3x ARGB RING Fans and 1x Front 120mm Fan
• ASRock B450M/AC w/ Dual Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi Motherboard
• 550-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply
• Windows 10 Home (64-bit)

I'm installing a software (1TB huge file) from executable file (setup.exe) on my M.2 drive to the same M.2 drive. Its taking about 1.5 hours.

When I look at the Task Manager for my m.2 drive, read/write speeds do not exceed 25MB/s. CPU is at 16%, memory 5.7/15/9GB. Disk 26%

Should this be much much faster than 25MB/s or am I missing something?

The 660p has a dynamic cache, which will shrink as the SSD filles up.

You're installing 1TB onto a 1TB drive, your cache shrinks.... 660p, during larger file transfers, as the drive fills up, can slump to <100MB/s.

Now, 25MB/s seems quite extreme, but the slow down isn't unheard of.

Reading and writing on the same drive will affect the speed.
Writing 1TB of little files to a 1TB drive will also be slow.

As the others have said this is a feature of the 660p.
