Slow Toshiba Satellite

Hi, I am helping someone with a Toshiba Satellite P55t-B5262. It's about 8 months old.

She says it's responding very slow. I have installed and run ccleaner, malwarebytes, avast, and there's not much other than MS Office and Quicken.

I turned off all the "whistles and bells" - the animation for windows, and the like.

I read a few things, and followed this procedure with my note in ( ).

"Turn laptop off. Hold the Power button 20 seconds. It'll turn on, then off (didn't happen)
Then hold down F2 and turn comp back on at same time then when the setting page pops up push F9 click yes then F10 and yes again."

Didn't do anything. She claims it's slower than her previous HP.

Anyone suggestions to speed it up?

Its either a problem with the os or high temps. Download speedfan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php check the temps and tell me what they are.

I would agree with Jasjar. Measuring the temps would be a good start.
Also, you can go to Resource Monitor and see if there's high usage of some of the components.

What is the OS of the laptop?

I believe it would not hurt to test HDD and RAM as well.

I forgot to mention she said it was slow right out of the box.

I didn't check the HDD or memory. Probably next week. Do the 134% CPU max frequency or the heat levels look like issues?

Speedfan is incorrectly reporting the GPU temp. Use msi afterburner to record the GPU temp: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/vga/MSIAfterburnerSetup.zip 134% maximun frequency means that turbo boost is on. That shouldn't be happening because the CPU is on 5% load, It is only meant to activate once the CPU is put under 100% load. Go into the BIOS and disable it and see what happens.
