Hi I have a 1TB hard drive (model: wdc wd10EARS-00y5b1) and I am finding it rather slow at times. Could anyone confirm whether the benchmarks posted below are typical of my drive or whether I have something going wrong in my system?

I can not view this pic! you sure it's available? However you should not expect your Disk to work on 6Gbps bandwidth. I use HD Tune Pro to analyze my disk! I have a WD Caviar BLack 1Tb SATA3 and guess what I found?
Average speed: 8 MiB/s
It's normal to get lower and lower while copying and moving operations take a long time! They start with 180 MiB/s and end with 10 MiB/s!!! so don't worry about that!

I see it. You do have one of the slower drives on the market. I am not sure where your benches should be for that model. You may want to defrag it for starters. If there was something mechanically wrong with it, you would hear clicking or grinding.

A sequential read speed of 248 MB/s is the kind of performance you would expect from an SSD.

Read/write speeds of 50 MB/s are very slow for a current model HDD. Could you show us a HD Tune benchmark graph?
