Hi Guys,

Hoping I can get some help here with my wifi connection.

I am subscribed to 1000mb broadband connection at home and use the Asus ac5300 router for wifi. On my desktop that connects straight to the router, I can get speed up to 800mb on speedtest.net but on my 5ghz and 2.4ghz wireless I am only able to get 70mb....

My router was setup using the quick easy setups they guide you through, is there any configuration I am missing here?

My frd has 300mb from his ISP and using a lower end asus router and still gets 2xxmb from speedtest...

Please let me know if I need to give more info, appreciate any help and advice!!!

Thanks,
Jeffrey

Your wireless connection speed will depend on a number of factors, including what adapters your devices have and if there are any other competing networks or wireless interference around you. Your friend's situation is quite different.

You will only get around 800Mbps or so even with a gigabit plan since your WAN and LAN ports are only gigabit and there is overhead to account for.

As for your wireless, I would start by running the free version of inSSIDer from HERE on a PC laptop and see if your 2.4GHz radio is overlapped by other networks. Also, while 5GHz does not work at as great a distance, check to see what radio band your devices are using.

Also consider other forms of interference, insure that the router and adapters...

Also consider other forms of interference, insure that the router and adapters are not near significant electrical devices or those that use wireless for something (headphones, mouse, KB, baby monitors, etc.) should not be too close.
