Slow Windows 7

My Windows 7 is very slow now. It takes about 1 min and 30 seconds boot to my desktop. When I installed it, it was very fast. It took about 20 seconds boot to my desktop. I don't have any viruses. What to do? Install Windows XP again? 😀

Check your startup items!

Click the Windows "Start" button and type "msconfig" in the search text box. This opens the System Configuration console.



Click the "Startup" tab. This gives you a view of all the programs installed as startup options on your computer.



Check boxes of the applications you want to start when you boot the computer. For programs you no longer want to start, clear the check box.



Click "Apply" and close the configuration window. A popup window will ask if you want to reboot the computer. Click "Restart" to reboot the computer and save the changes.

Slow startups can also be caused caused by device/driver issues.
Have you installed any extra hardware or devices?
Besides removing un-needed hardware or devices for testing there are a few other things you can do.

Run problem reports and check Reliability Monitor.

Try the Troubleshooting option

Work with the Advanced Boot Options Enable boot logging.
