Slow Wireless Speeds

I am running a TrendNet N speed USB wireless unit in my computer. My ISP is ATT Uverse with download speeds of up to 12Mbs. I ran one of those internet tests and it shows that it maxes out at 3.7Mbs. Trying to download anything takes hours and its really getting annoying. I cannot connect via Ethernet as the modem is in another room. Any ideas?

Interleave is to do with the DSL side; there's probably no issue with that.

Testing with something cabled directly could be useful, if it's an issue with your ISP's network.

Main thing is to try to move the WiFi adapter to a different USB socket. After that, I'd try a new router.
How do I get that info? I dont know what speed the router is. It was what ATT put in when they installed it. I have a laptop I can use to plug in directly but where do I go to find the upstream, downstream, and attenuation?

It shows attenuation at 24.0db Down and 19.0db Up. I cant find anything on here that says upstream or downstream. The router is only running att b/g speeds but I think should be getting faster than 3.71Mbs download out of that.

OK, that means there's about 19/2Mb/s coming down your DSL line.

Problem is internal/WiFi.

Try changing which channel you're on, and see if you can move your modem and PC closer together.

Also try swapping between the front and back USB ports for the WiFi adapter - the metal in the PC case can cause reception issues.

Ok, it says the channel is interleave does that mean it is changeable? Also would it help if bought a second router that has better output and then also got an internal PCI network card? The antenna in the USB adapter maybe is not good enough?
