I am replacing several development workstations that had striped SSDs and considering the use of the Samsung SM951-NVMe M.2 AHCI or some M.2 PCI-E similar product.

Need advice.

I would look at the Intel 750 PCIe based storage. Performance, up to 1.2TB size and Intel reliability.

if you want the M.2 form factor, why not the samsung 950 PRO that just released? It's NVMe, and either the 256 GB or 512 GB size are cheaper than the sm951s - and the 950 PRO is a retail unit which means direct warranty support from samsung, vs the 951 which is OEM and warranty support only offered by the vendor.

Additionally the 950 PRO comes with the driver from samsung, making installation a lot lot easier
