Hey all,

I’m looking to replace a build I did 7 years ago, and of course my interests have changed. I don’t game much, but I still like it, but now I am starting in photo and video editing. Nothing too intense. But as my life has gotten busier I like to go smaller than my current mid tower. So any help in parts and pieces to compete with an iMac with a small footprint for a pc is more than welcome. Intel, AMD, any and all opinions are welcome.

thanks

As you are comparing to an iMac. I assume a higher budget build. Unfortunately you'll be hard pressed to find a 5K display. I'm not sure how well the LG Ultrafine 5K works with Windows as it only has a Thunderbolt port from what I can tell. So, I listed a high end 4K display instead. You could also get Dell's 8K display but it gets pricey. Still less than a decked out iMac all together.

I think this build will beat most any decked out iMac. Except at video editing. From what I've read. Adobe Premiere Pro doesn't compete performance wise with Final Cut. Due to Metal and how optimized it is for Mac hardware.

You aren't going to come close the the footprint of the iMac though.
