Hi, I am planning to buy a smartphone.I have a choice between Xiaomi Redmi Note 3g or 4g running on mediatek octa core and snapdragon 400 quadcore processor. So, which should i buy. After watching and reading a lot of reviews, i found that mediatek chipset scored higher in benchmarks but still some prefer snapdragon claiming it to be more powerful and reliable. So, I am really confused in this???plzz.Help.Heres a link for both phones::

Yes Snapdragon is usually better than Mediatek. You should go for 4G version.
4G is slightly light weight too. 4G comes with KitKat version while 3G is at 4.2 Jellybean due to Mediatek Chipset. Qualcomm Snapdragon is good in terms of android development, many custom roms are available for snapdragon devices. However you should choose between SIM slots. 3G is dual SIM and 4G is single SIM.

Well..i dont have dual sim so that is not the problem..my only concern is if i buy 4g,i shouldnt regret it.well, phones are quite expensive here so i have to buy it for long term purposes..then should i buy 4g??

I saw these two phones in depth. Both have same Cortex A7 CPU type, 3G variant have better GPU. I suggest 3G model. With 3G model there are high possibility that you wont get future android version updates (lollipop+). If you don't have problem with android version and 4G connectivity, buy 3G model.

After looking at the 2 phones I would say go for the 4g only if you have 4g in your area. Both these phones are low - mid range. 4g will also drain the battery much quicker than 3g.

In terms of performance I can't really say as I have never used a smartphones that have a mediateck cpu.
