If they could afford to buy samsung, they would make their own LCD, memory, ram, motherboard, hell the whole phone. and save billions, instead they sue "samsung" for making their own products because god forbid them "sell a phone, tablet, anything" without the Lame ass apple logo on it ey? even though they make the product for them slimebags.

Apple without steve ripoff ideas jobs, is dead like a dog with 2 legs.

[citation][nom]kdw75[/nom]I am surprised Apple doesn't just buy Samsung.[/citation]
"The truth is, Samsung is involved in much more than just mobile phones and electronics. They are a massive company in Korea, and they are involved in almost every area of business, including shipbuilding, aviation, heavy machinery, retail, apparel, finance, chemicals, food, electronics and more. They also have a non-profit arm in medicine called Samsung Medical Centre which is one of the largest cancer centers in Asia." -- http://www.androidauthority.com/why-apple-is-very-afraid-of-samsung-26459/

yeah, i totally, AGREE. apple doesn;t have shit to stand on but a soapbox compared to Samsung.

samsung makes all you say, and loads more "by that I mean Laughapple" more products than APPLE could dream of.

Samsung is Diverse as a company willing to commit to new ideas, and intellect., apple is... well.. you answer that for yourself.

go to http://www.samsung.com/us/#latest-home and pull your head outa your ass.

Then go to Apples website. What do they make?

Hmmm let me see... products that SAMSUNG sell's parts to, to even make them a company. (A company aint shit without a product.)

Apple makes what? 4 devices max? (ipad, iphone, iphone, imac) cant name anymore since they are well... un original. And on top of that, the douchebags don't even make their own hardware and sue people over what? get for real.

Apple is lucky samsung doesn't say F*ck off and F*ck your american company, we create all your wealth, components, hardware. To all you saying "samsung" relies on apple is so full of crap it isn't even funny.

Apple does not cure cancer, apple does not do 80% of the things samsung does as a Company.

Cry foul, and eat trash.

Samsung may do a lot of stuff, and may be a great company, but as far as most valuable companies go, Apple is still worth the most and has the most capital. If Samsung wanted to sell their company, Apple would be capable of doing so, at least as far as economics go.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_corporations_by_market_capitalization#2012

Based on all the articles about how Samsung lost 7.5% value when they lost a $12 billion dollar settlement to Apple, that would put Samsung's value around $90 billion, compared to Apples $572 billion. I know it may seem weird that Apple can have that value, but they do.

However, having the means doesn't mean jack unless Samsung wanted to sell.

[citation][nom]ben850[/nom]Can you really count free phones as sales?[/citation]

Just because you did not outright pay for them does not make them free!
It sis simply calculated into your monthly fee.
Do you really think ANYONE is giving you something for free?

Don't confuse an overheated stock market with actual value!
Apple does not have nearly the assest Sansung has, not nearly the market volum, and most importantly...
has NO manufacturing.

Samsung just raised their chip prices to Apple by a cool 20% and there is absolutely nothing Apple can do but write a check. Now THAT is true power! Apple is totally dependent on Asian companies and that lawsuit they 'won' (we do not have a final word on that) is going to cost them dearly.

No surprise the Andridiots are chuckling their heads off. Gee....could it be that most of the brands on the list produce Android phones?

Despite Apple has a huge cash reserve, it is impossible for them to buy Samsung group which controls 20% GDP of south korea, one of the richest countries in the world. Even if Samsung group, for some extremely odd reasons, decide to sell off the mobile division to Apple, it would not have done any good to deter the domination of Android. The success of Android, is largely attribute to Google, who creates this open platform free of charge for all vendors to use. If Samsung stops making Android phone, there will be another vendor filling the void. It could be LG, or Sony, or Motorola, or RIM, or Nokia if they decide to dump Microsoft. If Apple really want to go "thermonuclear" with Android, they have no choice but to go after Google itself, which has a slim chance of winning in court.

Apple has two things

1º Overinflated stock prices
2º Insane profits due to inflated prices on products that sell millions. 30-50% benefit on each sale depending on the product.

Samsung has far less benefits overall, but it is a far bigger company with a a lot of divisions and departments. Apple completely depends on iPhone and iPad success to maintain their momentum, while Samsung could suffer setbacks on some of their products line like TVs or cameras and still keep trucking.

Apple is a giant with feet of clay.

Apple has over $500 billion market cap, while Samsung Electronics only has $165 billion market cap. However, Samsung group is a consortium of several companies. Apple does not have enough to buy out the whole Samsung group. Apple does not even have enough to do a hostile takeover of Samsung Electronics in practical term, not without several American bankers backing them up and loan Apple obscene amount of money. And Samsung will not be that foolish to not recognize Apple, as a company with only 4 products, get its market cap by riding a bubble. When that bubble bursts, Apple will worth a lot less. So share swap will not be an option. If Apple really wants to buy Samsung Electronics, Samsung will demand cold hard cash which Apple only has $100 billion in reserve at the moment, and that's assuming Samsung will not ask for higher price than its current market cap.

So the idea of buying Samsung (Electronics, not the group), is quite absurd.

I know everyone is upset at another Zak Islam article. I don't see why, this one looks fine to me...even if its info we already knew.

For you guys/gals hating on Apple. Don't kid yourself, just because you don't like them doesn't mean Apple's products are crappy.

They are sales, there sold to carriers cheaply enough that the subsidized price ends up being free.

Do not confuse stock price, or cash on hand with the size or value of a company. Apple is a company that makes a killer profit, and then sits on the cash, while Samsung is a company that sells tons more stuff, in many more markets, for less profit, and then infuses those earnings back into the business in the form of new equipment, facilities, or products.
While Apple makes UFO office suites, Samsung makes 10nm fab facilities. While Apple makes a few cute consumer products, Samsung makes components, consumer electronics, consumer appliances, and industrial equipment.
Apple could purchase a controlling interest in Samsung (assuming there are enough shares available for purchase), but the liability issues of running such a huge company, with such a different market strategy, and in markets that Apple knows absolutely nothing about, would be a dumb move. It is not just about the fiscal ability to do something, there are tons of practical business reasons that Apple simply cannot buy Samsung, and even if they did then it would damage both companies.
