[SOLVED] So many items out of stock?

I'm in need of a mid range $400 or so graphics card, and so many 'sold by new egg' or 'sold by amazon' are out of stock. the one's that are not are in the $1,000 range and that's far too expensive.
is this a common issue these days? any other places that might have more stock?

That has been a common thing for about 2 years.
Scalpers, mining, COVID are the main issues.

What graphics card are you looking for?
If you are a newegg buyer, check the shuffle.

They will offer graphics cards at a modest mark up.
This may be combined with a second product which you may or may not want.

Help may come in a month or two when Intel releases it's discrete graphics cards.

I usually stick with NVidia and EvGA. used to be an ATI guy but their drivers got too bloated. NVidia seemed faster at the time.

3070. Lol. Start looking in the $1000+ range. GT1030's that are basically not much different to the Vega graphics in a G series amd APC are going for $200-$300. The 2070Super which is a 3060 is $700+.

For $400 you'll be looking at junk.

Yup, not many decent options under $400. If I didn't already have a GTX1050 when I put my i5-11400 together, I would have gotten an i5-11500 instead of 11400 and tried my luck with waiting the GPU pricing insanity out.

If you are wanting close to MSRP your best bet is to go to your local big block and see what is in stock (which will range between none and not great). Other than that prebuilt OEM machines are a pretty good option right now because the big manufactures have volume direct contracts and are not having to deal with the scalper bots. Your chances of getting an MSRP good GPU right now are about as good as going to Target and finding a Xbox one series x. (Not impossible, but highly improbable.)
