ok, here are the reasons for a couple of my choices:
!st OCZ Gold DDR3, it's cheap and very fast, I chose Corsair Dominator modules and spent more than I should have.
2nd: 2X EVGA GTX 285 they have 1 gig of mem apiece and if one goes down you can pull it and still use the system, if like me you chose the GTX 295 and it goes out.....your screwed. and I am pretty sure that the gains you get in quad sli are not what you expect, for some reason it isn't as good as you would think...drivers or something, all the reviews say it also.
3rd: The I7 920 can be overclocked with ease to faster than the 965 at stock and it like 1/3 the cost, and aside from clock speed....they are the same....save some money here and buy lunch for the family 10 times!!!

thanks alot. i have been looking for some good specs and reasons for a while. this will help alot.

one more question tho... a friend put together a computer about 12 or so years ago. he customized his motherboard and had 4 cpus in it, was the fastest computer i had seen at the time. an original 'quad core'.

is it possible today?

Not with everything you would expect....Asus has one in development but the details are kind of sketchy and it's not out yet to my knowledge also I don't think it would be a gamer really, it's on here at Toms Hardware...http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asus-nehalem-xeon-motherboard,7211.html
