are the intel sockets 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156 all the same as far as installing a water cooler goes?

Yes, the mounting mechanism should be compatible with nearly all standard Socket 11XX configs. Keep in mind that OEMs, like Dell, often use a proprietary layout that is not compatible with standard devices.

I'm considering the corsair h60 liquid cooler, motherboard is the msi z270-a pro

a few folks are mentioning less than optimal temps with the smallish radiators with H60; I'd consider the air cooled Noctua NH-D15 instead.....

(my 7700k runs 60c under load...)

The Noctua would actually be more efficient and effective.
