Hello Guys

Does anyone know any good Software that does Software Raid 1 and mirror 2 drives ?

i dont trust Windows built it Raid or mirror option and i am not sure how well does it work

Yes all you need to do is Plug in your 2 SSD Drives into 1&2, set them up as a RAID 1 Array, boot, install windows, drivers & ETC.

then connect the other drives to Port 3&4 and your good to go.

If you are doing RAID 1 for data redundancy I would avoid software raid all together.
go for a dedicated hardware raid card.

Your aiming to less points of failure with RAID 1, but introducing 1 by using software raid.

NOTE: RAID 1 is not a proper backup solution.

Hi

I know Raid is not backup solution the problem is i need to setup Raid 1 for 2 SSD but in same time not sync other drives to it
my MB allow Raid 1 on port 1 to 4 which mean i lose 2 ports

So i have 2 card that can allow Raid 1 but Rosewill RC-209-EX has 4 ports which wont allow single raid just like my motherboad so if i go with Rosewill RC-212 VIA PCI SATA 1.5G / IDE ATA then i am limited to Up to 1.5GB/s which is not good speed to setup 2 SSD

Sata Card 1:
Rosewill RC-209-EX PCI 2.3, 32bit, 33/66Mhz SATA Controller Card
=============================
sata card 2:
Rosewill RC-212 VIA PCI SATA 1.5G / IDE ATA 133 Controller Card / Supports Raid 0, 1, 0+1, JBOD, non-RAID mod

Motherboard:
ASUS M5A97 Evo - AM3+ - 970 - SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 - ATX AMD ATX DDR3 2133 Motherboards

seems like i have 2 options here
1- Software Raid mirror with MS --- which i dont trust
2- Buy a new 2 Sata 3 6GB/s card to be able to run Raid 1 Mirror

Hi

So if i connect my SSD 1 and SSD 2 to Port 1 and port 2 and then go to raid setup and sync them and then install os and so on , i can use port 3 and port 4 for any hard drive not worry about the raid talking over the other drives ??

yes that is correct, you enable raid on all 4 ports,

then create a RAID 1 Array with SSD1 & 2 as members of that raid.
you can then add more drieves to ports 3&4 without them being members of the raid.

it will work one of 2 ways, either just connect the drives to 3/4 and the will automatically show up in windows as normal. or connect them to 3/4 then add them to a JBOD array / group in the raid setup (just a bunch of drives)

hello so in either way i will have to enter JBOD array in Bios and setup any new drive so in this case i dont need to worry all i need to do is to seup port 1 and port 2 in in JBOD array as Raid 1 Mirror and then i am good to good

hello

running into new problem when Raid is turn on the MS Windows 7 64bit CD wont see the Raid Drive but if i turn Raid off then the CD see 2 Drive as 0 and 1

So i thought i need to install OS while Raid is running or active

Can someone advise please

Hi

Never mind guys the motherboard comes with a CD that create a file so when windows load i can add the driver to it and it will then see the 2 SSD Drive in Raid 1 as one drive very interesting

i am good to go as far that goes now
