If I ever saw a solar eclipse, I always thought a mountain top would be the place to do it. Didn't account for the snow, however. That also meant the access road was impassible (by me), adding almost another mile to the hike.
According to what I'm reading, it's a moderately challenging hike in good conditions. Due to the snow and time pressure, it was one of the toughest hikes I've ever done (and I've summited some 14k peaks in the Rockies). I will struggle to walk, tomorrow. I'm always most sore on the second day. Worth it, though.
Didn't know who I'd meet at the top, but it was quite a mix of locals and international visitors. Probably about 40 - 50, in total.
