Beware: ebay + paypal take a total of 13% of the total selling price, so if you just payapl'd him it would only be 3% or 0% if you selected for "family or gift"

So true about ebay taking their cut. I've been selling on ebay for years. Actually it comes out closer to 9% for me. Not including the shipping discount, which can be considerable over time. But that's the cost of reaching a huge market, I guess.

The total percentage from ebay alone can very depending on your status as a seller. Normally, it is 10% from ebay alone, and then paypal takes another 3%, but then again, thats just the percentiles they tell us.
