My pc is working. Boots to windows normally. I play games at normal temperatures, yet I have a cpu red light.

This is a new pc and I updated the BIOS because I was encountering problems (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3777593/exhausted-choices-bios-update-left.html)

I think it appeared after updating the bios because I would have had noticed it.

Gigabyte mobo manual says that it means device is not working properly.

Solution
Normally if the CPU light is red your board will not boot up. in your case it does which tells me the LED or board are defective. However it works so its really just a minor issue, won't affect performance.

That said, if these parts are new, I would exchange the board for a new one.
