BTW, I'm not sure if you noticed, but this article doesn't seem to deal with consumer media. Nowhere does either the text or the slides mention M.2 form-factor. The slides explicitly list which form factors they're talking about, and it's all server & datacenter stuff.

And my follow on comment was more or less a joke.

Being that there WILL be some dude who comes along and wants to do some sort of RAID with these, to get better FPS in his self hosted minecraft server.

Have seen exactly that, with varying levels of SSD. Up to and including 1TB Optane drives.
