Hi,

I currently have the phone/DSL socket at the front of my house which is where the modem and router are. However, the ethernet cables from the different rooms around the house end up in the study at the back where I want to have an ethernet switch. What would be the best way to connect everything up?

Thanks in advance!

If the router is your only wifi access point, the router needs to stay where you use wifi. In that case, add the switch where the cables are and connect the Ethernet drop in the room to a LAN port on your router.

Alternately, the cleanest solution to get all the equipment in one place is to drop a phone line back to the ethernet cable location and move the router back there.
