I'm running Photoshop 25.11.0 on the very latest version of Windows 11.

Here's the problem:

I dock my panels to the right edge. When I launch PS, the panels are configured as shown in image 1 below. I move them to the configuration shown in image 2. This involves clicking on the Layers tab to pop that group up, then grabbing and stretching the top of the Properties panel up to the bottom of the Adjustments panel.

I'd like to make that configuration stick as my default workspace, but I can't figure out how to do it. When I close PS, the next time I open it, the panels are back to configuration 1. It's a minor nuisance to re-adjust them every time I open, but it's still a nuisance. I've tried creating a new workspace with that configuration, but it still doesn't stick. Any ideas on how to fix this?

SOLVED
I don't know how or why, exactly, so I report just for the weirdness of the "solution."

My panel tabs were initially grouped (by my choice) as in 1 below. One day I inadvertently shifted the Layers tab one space to the right (2). When I closed PS and then re-opened it, the arrangement of all the panels (image 1 in my original post) remained as I had set them (except for this shifted Layers tab).

So, I shifted the Layers tab back to its original place (3 below). Now when I close and re-open PS, everything remains as set. The Layers group does not collapse to the bottom. Again, I don't know if my inadvertent tab shift was responsible for the "solution," but there it is, and I'm glad to have it. :??:
