[strike]I have a 2mb/s download Speed which is about 220KB/s. When i download something, It first downloads at 220KB/s but after a while it reduces to 80KB/s and just gets stuck there! The only thing to fix this is to restart my computer but even after that, it the problem reappears within 5-10mins of use... Do you know how i can fix this?[/strike]

[Solved]

Yes i do have p2p apps, but ocationally...not all the time... maybe 2-3days in a week. But i have not used since the past week...

The other WLAN adapter also has issues... If i re-install drivers it will get "cured" but 5mins in, it comes back to normal

I cant think of anything that has a preferred connection as i uninstalled network-iControl and there is no setting like that in my P2P app.

My router and modem is pretty far from my computer so wired connection is hard... I tried once by using a long ethernet cable but when i plugged it into the lan port on the back of my motherboard, it showed limited access...

Ill take some photos and see if you can help me...

ok, becuase if the wired connection does not have that problem on that router and that internet connection then it could be the adapter.

however since the adapter works fine with that other connection it could be a software problem.

My phone port,

That wire connects to a splitter,

That the modem wire connects to the modem,

An ethernet cable connects to the modem,

The ethernet cable connects to the back of my motherboard,

Now im getting,

It looks like wired is working fine but there is one big problem... If i have wired this is how my house will look...

And as you can see its un-acceptable 🙁 So i really have to fix the problem. Because wired works fine, its not a virus so its a software issue... I have updated my BIOS to its latest version aswell. Also for the wired connection i left out my router so it can be a router issue aswell...

If i connect my router,

I connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the main router port and run another cable from the router to my computer,

But then i cant connect to the internet at all 🙁,

So is this a router issue? But the router is working fine on the other computers...

so wired to the WGR614 isn't working either.... can you connect from a switch attatched to the router? (if you got one)

sounds to me the router is rejecting your particular machine's connection. Are there any QoS rules set on the router or anything else like that?

I dont have a switch. I dont know what QoS rules are 😛

Yeah, maybe my router is rejecting my computer... I cant even access my router's setup site. (192.168.1.1) It doesnt let me enter it...

and you try all your wireless cards and NICs and they all do that to just one router.... here's a thought....

have you did all the methods to reset your connection and IP like ipconfig /flushdns , etc????

All NIC dont work proper on only my computer but work fine on other computers... So my computer is the issue or the router doesnt like my computer 😛

Since wired works, i doubt that my computer is the problem. The router is not even letting me connect to it wired! it just comes "no internet access" but when i connect my computer directly to my modem, it works fine. So router may be the issue. It has to be a setting somewhere... But i have done a hardware reset and have tried ipconfig /flushdns. nothing works...

you checked all the network settings for your software right? this is really wierd...

also have you check the obvious stuff like plugging the usb wifi adapter into another usb port, getting into the router's config with another pc that can access it and verify the settings are correct.

What software? my P2P client ? chrome? Network Driver?

If i connect my router to another computer i can access config site (192.168.1.1) and make changes. But i dont know what settings are correct. I have restored to factory default, changed the SSID and added a WEP code and changed the channel. Thats all

Okay Guys, thanks for your help but i solved the problem. I used an old backup router and now everything is working fine... So it looks like it was the router's problem after all... Now im relieved, 70kBps just doesnt cut it for me. Thanks for the input anyway 😀
