So I bought this laptop used last night and it worked fine until I tried actually changing the resolution in settings or in a game.

I clicked "Advanced Display Settings" and saw:

This is really weird mainly because whilst writing this, the GPU is detected and drivers are installed.

Now I've been working with computers for ages and have had several issues just like this one but for some reason I can't wrap my head around it.
To get the GPU to actually be used in games, I need to disable the Basic Display Adapter, which causes the computer to not let me change the resolution.
Specs I'm working with:
i7-6500u
Radeon R7 M370
8GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz
If anyone knows how to make the dedicated graphics actually connect to the internal laptop display, please help.
Edit: This is also causing the brightness slider to not work.

Solution
I probably don't have as much experience in this area as you, but from what I can tell this problem is from the monitor's driver, not the GPU.
But if it is the graphics driver- You're disabling the Basic Display driver in Device Manager? And the AMD Radeon appears above/below it in Device Manager?
I'm interested in seeing screenshots of that and their Properties menus.

Thanks for the quick reply, I installed the Intel HD 520 drivers which fixed it and now they work parallel. I'll be closing this thread too.
Also, it did show the Radeon GPU in properties, this all turned out to be an iGPU issue.
