Hi, brand new computer, I'm legit getting nuts. I'm a freelancer and I got a newborn baby, losing money with each day I can't work (game developer), getting desperate :coldsweat::sad:

Context:
- New parts: i7 14700k + Maxsun Z790 + 64gb ram corsair 6000mhz + MSI MAG A850GL 850W.
- Old parts: RX590 TDP 175W (need to use old GPU, I test games). Cleaned and put new thermal paste, stress tested, works flawlessly on old build.
Extra info: Updated bios, drivers, everything. Nothing is overheating. Bios is stock. No OC/undervolt.

Problem:
- 14700k computer crashes with the RX590 plugged in it - crashes on idle, on benchmarks, on almost everything (chrome/etc). Usually after 1-2 hours of use. Mouse/image freezes and I need to reboot manually. No sound, no sparks, nothing. Fans keep spinning, leds keep spinning. Only thing that makes the computer "reset" is holding the power button. Most of the crashes happen at idle/chrome/low load. Computer rarelly crashes on benchmarks.
- No bluescreen, no error messages, no auto-reboot, nothing. Just mouse + screens frozen every single time.
- After crashing WIN+CTRL+SHIFT+B doesn't work at at all, system is 100% stuck (pressing numpad/numlock doesn't work as well after crash).
- Fastest way to crash is by running AMD Stress test - it crashes in like 2 minutes. If I leave power limit to 50%, it takes a lot longer to crash but it still crashes!

Tests I made:

- 14700k system is stable if I put my old PSU in the new system (old model CX600M, 10y) even with the GPU at 115% power limit and using power adapter cables (which makes no sense to me).
- 14700k is 100% stable without the GPU and with the new PSU MSI MAG A850GL 850W, EVEN WITH HEAVY OVERCLOCK.
- RX590 works flawlessly if I put it on my old computer
(4770+H61M+16GB ddr3 + CX600M).
- Tried switching motherboard PCI-E mode to gen3/4/5. Still crashes. Tried also disabling C-STATES, making voltage higher, also nothing.
- Memtest, processor test, all 100% perfect.
- Intel processor diagnostic tool 100% perfect.
- 5h stress test on my RX590 on my old computer, 100% perfect, temps low/stable.

Questions:
- What the hell is going on? Is it the psu? It's brand new and got 10 years warranty, A rated.
- Is there any "chance" the old RX590 is not compatible with the newer board z790?
- This PSU has a 16pin pci-e cable, I wonder if I should buy a 3060/4060 to test if it works, maybe the new PSU is optmized for gen5 pci? Does this make sense?
- Is it worth the effort to put the MSI MAG A850GL 850W (new PSU) into the old computer that's been stable for 10 years (4770/rx590)?

What should I do? Thanks a ton!! Crashes are Kernel-power mostly.

Logs from the crashes - they are either kernel related or igccservice/cplspcon crashes that happen AFTER the crash.

Maxsun Z790
I think the issue might very well be the board.
Damn, for real? 😤😤 Bought it because of this review (from this website btw), it didn't seem to be that bad (aside from the terrible bios).
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/maxsun-icraft-z790-wifi-review

It was the cheapest z790 with good nvme ports, wifi and bios flashback around here 🥹🥲

Out of curiosity, are you recycling any cables from the older build or PSU?
Nope, every cable is brand new! Also tried 4 different pci-e cables of the new PSU, same results (crashes). Tried swapping PSU slots and also same results. Also tried reconnecting all cables.

I'm really low on cash - would you bet your money on a new PSU or on a new motherboard (I'd go for an asrock z790 lightning as its within my budget) ? I can get a loan/pawn something and buy a new one while I try to RMA the PSU or the MOBO (it should take around 30-40days here at least). I ran memory/CPU tests and I highly doubt the 14700k or the memory would be defective.

I tried reformatting my windows11 just for the sake of it - now I'm getting crashes on OCCT stress test with anything above PL1/PL2=175W.. PL1/PL2=200~225 is instant BSOD whenever I run it (at least its a bsod with log). PL1/PL2=175W I managed to get running for 5 minutes on maximum stress test (gpu/cpu).

Thank you!

<Mod Edit> Is it really the motherboard?
Ran OCCT stress/power test with PL1=PL2=175W. Crashed after 2 minutes. ZERO voltage/current spikes or drops when it crashed.

Powerout: 206-211W stable
GPU current: stable
CPU Temperature: No spikes/overheating
AVSB = 3.36V stable zero drops
CPU: 175W stable zero drops
VR = 11.98-12.05, almost zero fluctiation
GPU Chip Power = 157-160W stable
Vcore: 0.978~ stable

Does it mean the PSU is good and the motherboard is faulty? I ran 12 hours of memtest and every CPU test possible. All passed 100%.

Here are the logs:

Solved, hwinfo64 is incompatible with this mobo and makes it crash. 5 days bashing my head, can't believe something so simple was the cause........................
