Some windows 7 questions

Hey guys I got some windows 7 questions for y'all. Here goes:

1. Do I install windows 7 by downloading the RC from microsoft website and burn the .ISO file to a DVD then boot off of that?

2. How big is the .ISO file? (would it fit on a 4.7GB DVD?)

3. What kind of configuration do you have running win7 on? (is it 32 or 64bit, what cpu, how much ram, and how well it runs on that setup)

Would you recommend running win7 as your primary OS? I would have the 64-bit version and use my computer primarily for gaming and want a good modern OS that isnt (old) XP and don't want to pay $100 for vista when win7 is coming out so soon (though I do like vista).

1) yes, exactly.
2) 3.1gb, it fits on a dvd.
3) On a test machine, e8400, 4gb, 7300GT. 64 bit.
From the testing I have done, it seems to be good.

I would run it as a primary OS until the official release is out. At that time, you will need to do a clean install again.

Tests I have seen show it to be good for gaming.

I am running windows 7 as my main and only opp system, and am having no probs at all.

2: 3.2gb for 64bit (yes)

i recommend jumping all in and installing this as ur main opp system,
it is stable, it looks bloody sexy and it is fast. from what i can tell, all vista drivers work (if u need to install any, as win 7 installed all drivers duringinstall).

there is only one problem i do have, majority of the virtual drive software (daemon tools and alcohol 120) dont work yet, waiting on updates.

The thing I love about Windows 7 is how it tries to find all the drivers for your system. Already have connectivity right in the install program, and the only driver I had to manual install (so far) was my video card driver.

I'm actually starting to rely on 7 now. The hardest part is uninstalling all my old apps from my old XP install and reinstalling them on 7. Maybe this install guide may be helpful: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/248-63-install-windows-vista-machine (just remember the min space you need for 64-bit is 20GB, not 16GB)

I've been running the beta W7 7100 since it's release without any problems.
Yesterday I installed the RC version it's even better, I didn't need to find any drivers for the installed hardware.
Home built system
E6600
3gb ram
Intel 965RY board
1x250gb WD hdd
2x320gb WD hdd
1x640gb WD hdd
internal drives
1x WD500gb MY BOOK external, 1x Seagate 250gb Free Agent external
2x Welland eSATA cases, 1x 160gb WD, 1x 640gb WD hdd
I still have Vista on another drive, did a clean install on my spare drive which I emptied earlier.
Install took 20 minutes from inserting DVD to ready to use.
I used easy transfer to save my documents and settings from the beta version onto the RC version.
Saves me remembering all my forum user name and passwords, memory's not what it used to be.
Reinstalled all my programs, that kept me busy the rest of the day.
By adding my document folder, photos, music and video to the W7 library, I have full access to data in Vista, without needing 2 copies and then trying to work out which is a later file and which is an old one.

Windows 7 RC provided every system driver required for this NF4 rig! After initial install, Device manager was clean!!! Windows 7 64 at that! That was amazing.

As with Badge, clean device manager after x64 RC install (beta 7000 needed 2 drivers, 7068 was clean)

Only odd thing was how it decided to handle the video drivers. The automatically installed ATI/AMD driver was 8.600, when using 'update driver' method Windows reported that my drivers were already up to date. Obviously, 8.612 is the latest driver version, so I had to run the actual setup application in the latest 9.4 Catalyst download (5/5). That being said, there were no issues (and none expected) in installing said drivers.

This one has been a bit trickier. The old 3com net adapter needed drivers and I had to use the third-party drivers for the sound. That said, it runs Win 7 pretty damn well, all things considered.
