Hello , long story short , I was trying to install Kali Linux and somehow I messed with partitions and my HD got formatted , I want to recover my data urgently , it had my urgent files , without them , I would be hopeless , I haven't overwritten any data on my HD , its a WD Blue 500 GB , right now I am thinking to use hirens boot disk and run restore , I also don't have any other systems , nor any other disks , just this and a laptop one..please help

your only options are to
1. buy another internal hard drive, to install OS on and run recovery software
2. bring hd to data recovery lab (very expensive)
3. buy an external drive, install operating system, run data recovery software.

When you are done, you could just format and return drive

So assuming that 'operating system' also includes Ubuntu , I can run a live USB Ubuntu and recover the files to a large pen drive? Is it possible , again , I say , is there a way to use the hirens CD or dos recovery tools?
