told me that Steam and Office no longer let you install on drives other than the C: drive. Is that true? Haven't tested it. Does that mean I can no longer have Steam and my games on my secondary hard drive that has more space than my main drive, as people used to do it?

There are exactly zero reasons to not let you choose where the program is to be installed. But even if that was true there are still tricks that let you install programs on secondary drive while Windows thinks they are on C: drive.

I know for a fact this is false with Steam because I have been able to do it recently.

Thanks guys. I confirmed with another IT guy, it seems it was a false info. Not sure why the first person told me that. Maybe he was trying to tell me something else and misspoke. Sorry for wasting your time.

For Steam, they are 100% wrong.
Just now, in my Steam client, game install locations....

The D and I locations I created just now.

For OFFice, that depends on how you obtain it.
